Our bed & breakfast is above all about living with our guests and the pleasure of hospitality.
Our home is the Greek Calabria, a strip of land that is reflected in the blue Ionian Sea and climbs towards the sky going up the slopes and into the Aspromonte Park. We find ourselves in the land of the Greeks of Calabria, the descendants of those Greeks for whom “xenia”, (the host that takes care of the stranger), was a fundamental virtue. Cesare Pavese, an Italian Poet and novelist, who was once exiled in nearby Brancaleone, said that “the people of these villages are of a tact and a courtesy that have only one explanation: here once was the civilization of Greece”. And this is what guests find when they visit us, open doors, an easy-going and warm environment, and family style company
Il Gelsomino B&B is a villa in Prunella, a small village in the Ionian Calabria. located at the entrance of the Tuccio creek valley, located on a natural terrace lying between the sea and the mountains. The guest is surrounded by the intense colours and scents of the earth, the sweet and intense fragrances of the orange blossom and night jasmine, the bright green of the citrus groves and the intense yellow of the lemons and bergamots that follow the irregular shape of the riverbed. dark and opaque colours of the olive groves and the ridges of the hills scorched by the sun.
Our B&B owes its name to the fabulous fragrant jasmine plant which produces a generous amount of flowers and has been welcoming guests to the house for more than half a century
